I was raised in a Christian home. When I was a young girl, one evening I asked my dad about salvation. He showed me from the Bible my sin and the need for salvation. I clearly remember asking Jesus to save me and knowing that He had. I was baptized a few years after that. Although I was young, I know that is when I became a child of God. Off and on during school I struggled with the assurance of my salvation. I had questions such as, “’Was I too young?’ And did I say the ‘right thing’?”
However, the Lord was working in my life, and I made several lasting decisions in high school including surrendering full time for Christian service if that is where the Lord wanted me. During the first week of revival services my freshman year at Bible college, I talked with a long-time family friend who helped me with the assurance of my salvation. She encouraged me to read 1st John and compare what God says about salvation to my life. I realized after studying 1st John that my struggles with assurance of salvation were due to sin and lack of fellowship with God – not a lack of my salvation. I have not struggled with assurance since that time as I realized it wasn't what I said when I was young, but it was my faith in Christ that saves us by grace.
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in missions. Missions’ conferences and missionary visits were some of my favorite times growing up and now especially as an adult. My family regularly had missionaries stay in our home which added to my interest in missions. I've been working in some sort of Christian ministry since graduating from college and have seriously considered if God wanted me in missions. But I never felt a real call to go then as a single lady. However, God has now brought Caleb into my life and his desire to go into missions particularly Germany is now also the desire of my heart. I am excited for the opportunity to serve alongside him on the mission field. We have already been serving God together with the bus ministry, children’s ministries, and adult ministries. I am eager to see how the Lord will use us together to serve Him.
